Wow! I can't believe how much it looks like Nepal, and how beautiful it is... Makes me kind of home sick, er, travel sick (and not the bad kind!)

Nichole, my friend passed along The inheritance of Loss for me to read last year and I still haven't picked it up -- maybe this is the inspiration I need. We can have a book club session from afar!

Nice pics of the area...I hadn't imagined it so veg-free, but 3500 m is up there. Can you see any of the big mtns from town? All sounds great and glad to hear that your bodies are adjusted.

Hey Kate--I think we are heading to Nepal next. We are enjoying the mountains so much that we don't want head down yet. Luke always wants me to keep the acclimatization gain that I've had for Nepal so we can trek without having to start over. I haven't been able to get excited about the Inheritance of Loss yet, I am going to keep reading though. I am listening to the Mists of Avalon on my iPod; this has been great for these perilous mountain road where my eyes are closed tightly. You have to email me and tell me what your 6-month plan is right now. So curious...
Hey Giff--there is a ton of farming here in the valley, which is the spot at 3505 meters. It just above us, that treeline occurs and then nothing grows. It is quite a dramatic shift from rich farmland to nothing!
