On Tuesday we hired a driver and car and went to Bhaktapur to get into the countryside again and to visit this traditional town. It is beautiful place and architecture that is very different than where we are staying in Boudha. We wondered around on our own, doing a self-guided tour, dodging tour guides, and checking out the buildings and the locals who were preparing for the festival. One of the things that I was most excited about was Potters' Square where they throw on these huge stone wheels. We missed the actual throwing, even with our early morning arrival, but we did catch the many different pots laid out to dry and the potters loading and unloading their straw kilns.

Fall is slowly settling in here, but still no frost in town, although snow in the mtns again this weekend
sleeping beauty, indeed! looks like he's been drinking rahkshi all night! have you two had any? it's nepali moonshine... like everclear with a hint of fruit flavor served in very small terracotta "shot" cups... is very very warming. ;)
